Welcome to the message boards for The American Association of Independent News Distributors. Here you can discuss topics related to our industry, your business, news in general, or just discuss whatever is on your mind. These forums are currently open to everyone but you must register to post first. Registration is easy and only takes a few seconds. Once you get familiar with the boards, there are many useful features for you to utilize but it's extremely simple to start participating. The forums are currently divided into three main sections:
General Industry Discussion
AAIND Members Area
Happy Hour Section
All forums require registration in order to post. Posts can be viewed without registering. Registration is necessary to help keep spam to a minimum.
The General Industry discussion area is open to the public and can be viewed by anyone. It requires registration if you wish to post or reply to a thread. Since it's public keep that in mind when posting. Topics that are directly related to AAIND should be posted in the AAIND members area.
The AAIND Members Area is currently public but members are requested to submit a "join request" for the AAIND Members Group. While anyone can participate, these forums are specifically for all AAIND members in good standing. Join requests from non members will be denied, although it will not currently affect the status of your registration here. At a later date we may make the Members Area private for those users who have joined the AAIND Members usergroup.
To join the AAIND Members usergroup, first register (http://www.aaind.org/messageboards/register.php) then go to your control panel by clicking at the top of the page where it is marked User CP. Once you open the Control Panel, on the left hand side you will see quite a few controls for managing and modifying your account. Near the bottom, under miscellaneous you will see Group Membership. Click on that and you will see a listing for the user group "AAIND Members". Click on "join group" and your request to join will be submitted. Your request should be responded to within 24 hours. If your request is still outstanding after 24 hours you can contact the group leader (at this time that would be me (http://www.aaind.org/messageboards/member.php?u=2)) through the messaging system built into the forums.
The Happy Hour section is for general discussion of interests outside the publishing industry. Sure we're publishing and distribution professionals but we're so much more than that. Talk about your favorite sports team or discuss your hobbies. You never know who else may share the same intersests as you. Social networking is just as important in the business world these days as accounting; and it's just a lot more fun!
